Your Protagonist

Meet Roxie Maxx

Roxie Maxx left a bad marriage and a Chicago penthouse and drove north with a Bichon Frise, a deed to a crumbling lakefront property, and a conviction that women deserved better than what the world had been handing them. She turned that property into Pines & Needles Crafting Colony, a sanctuary on the Lake Huron shore outside Whiskey Pines, Michigan, where women fifty and older come to work with their hands, keep their own counsel, and build something that lasts.

What she did not plan on was the murders. She has gotten rather good at solving them.

She is assisted, as always, by Kenzie, twelve pounds of white Bichon Frise with a previous life as a 1920s speakeasy waitress and an encyclopedic knowledge of human misbehavior. Kenzie communicates directly with Roxie. She is almost always right. She finds this unsurprising.
