You decide where your mBoox is offered, how it is presented, what it costs and how the finished experience reflects your name and brand.
The next chapter of publishing has arrived
An mBoox™ preserves everything readers love about a book, then brings it fully to life with sound, video, animation, interactive features and immersive design.
An mBoox is a custom multimedia-enhanced digital book. It can be a novel, memoir, family history, children’s story, presentation, catalog, guide, course or one-of-a-kind creative project. The written work remains at its heart, while carefully chosen media and interactive features deepen the reader’s experience.
A book remains a book. It simply gains a few more senses.
For authors who own or control their digital publishing rights, an mBoox creates a premium edition that can be sold directly from the author’s own website.
Amazon and other retailers can be valuable discovery and sales channels. But your publishing business should not disappear because an outside platform changes a rule, removes a listing, restricts an account or makes a decision you cannot control. An mBoox gives you another path—one that begins and ends on property you control.
Use the marketplaces. Do not let the marketplaces own your entire business.
You decide where your mBoox is offered, how it is presented, what it costs and how the finished experience reflects your name and brand.
Invite buyers to join your mailing list during checkout or after purchase—with their consent—so the connection continues beyond a single sale.
There is no retail marketplace share on a sale made through your own store. Ordinary payment-processing, website, hosting and tax costs still apply.
Use major retailers for reach and discovery while building a direct channel that cannot be taken away by the decision of a single storefront.
An mBoox can complement a Kindle or print edition rather than replace it. The ordinary edition can reach readers through established marketplaces; the mBoox gives loyal readers a richer reason to buy directly from the author. Excalibur charges to create the edition and takes no ongoing royalty from the author’s direct mBoox sales.
Every project is different. Features are selected because they strengthen the story, explain the subject, preserve something important or give the reader an experience print cannot provide.
Atmospheric soundtracks, character galleries, maps, timelines, bonus scenes, author commentary, animation and story-world extras can turn a familiar book into an edition available nowhere else.
Recorded voices, video messages, photographs, music, family trees, timelines, letters, recipes and personal memories can preserve not merely what happened, but how a life felt.
Product demonstrations, clickable catalogs, branded presentations, video walkthroughs, training manuals, portfolios, investor materials and company histories can live in one polished publication.
Narration, guided experiences, interactive illustrations, courses, fundraising pieces and imaginative hybrid projects can be built around an idea that refuses to fit inside an ordinary box.
Craftsmanship behind the curtain
There is no shortage of tools that can place media inside a digital file. There is a shortage of people who know how to make every element feel as though it has always belonged to the book.
An mBoox is planned, edited, designed, assembled, tested and refined by hand. Technology supplies possibilities. Publishing judgment decides which possibilities deserve to stay.
That judgment is what nearly six decades in publishing brings to the work.
The Quiet Treachery demonstration shows one possible combination of book design, atmosphere and interactive features. It is a sample—not a template and not the limit.
It does not have to. Many authors can use it as a premium companion edition: keep the conventional book in familiar retail channels while offering the richer mBoox directly to readers.
KDP Select requires the digital format of an enrolled book to remain exclusive to Amazon during its enrollment period. Before selling or distributing an mBoox edition of that title from your own website, review your current agreement and enrollment status. You may choose a different title, wait until the exclusivity period ends or ask Amazon how the terms apply to your particular edition.
Depending on the project, the mBoox can be presented on the web, embedded in the author’s website or delivered as a self-contained HTML5 digital package that opens through a modern browser without requiring a special reading app.
No. Restraint is part of good design. A novel may need music and a map; a memoir may need voices and photographs; a business guide may need demonstrations and working tools. The book determines the technology.
Yes. Because it is a digital publication, an mBoox can be revised or expanded as the project grows. The method and cost depend upon the changes requested and the way the edition is distributed.
The author or commissioning client owns the completed custom mBoox subject to the rights in any third-party material used. Excalibur Productions charges a production fee rather than taking an ongoing percentage of direct sales.
Because every mBoox is individually built and tested, only a limited number of custom commissions can be accepted during each production period. When the current openings are filled, new projects move to the next available schedule.
